The cruel murder of 12-year-old Lola, who was found in a plastic suitcase by a homeless man in the residence where her family lived, has shocked France.
The little girl was raped and then killed by a 24-year-old Algerian citizen.
"The autopsy showed that she died of asphyxiation and there were signs of compression on the cervix," declared prosecutor Laure Beccuau. "Hematomas on the face, back and large cuts on the neck were also noted."
The 24-year-old Algerian, who was arrested on Saturday in Bois-Colombes (Hauts-de-Seine), admitted the charges of murdering the minor. She is accused of killing a minor under the age of 15, rape, torture and acts of barbarism.
A 43-year-old man, who is suspected to be a relative of the suspected author, was also arrested on the charge of hiding the corpse. The cause of this macabre crime is still unknown.
Lola's body was found Friday evening by a homeless man. She had her legs tied and her mouth taped shut.
"In addition to multiple stab wounds on the upper body and neck, Lola had a symbol "0" and "1" written in red under each of the victim's legs," said the prosecutor. At the moment, the symbolism of these two numbers has not been clarified.
One of the reasons for the incident is suspected to be the disagreements that the alleged perpetrator and Lola's mother had before the teenager's murder.
The sister of the suspected author lived in the same building where Lola and her parents lived. It is suspected that she has permission to enter the apartment on Manin Street from Lola's mother, but the latter refused to give it to her.
However, it remains unconfirmed. On Monday evening, a judicial investigation was opened on charges of murder of a minor under the age of 15 accompanied by rape, torture and acts of barbarism, as well as concealment of the corpse. Investigations are ongoing, especially to determine the exact motive for this murder.
