The President of Kosovo, Vjosa Osmani, addressed the Constitutional Court this Tuesday, July 22, with a request for clarification on how the conflict created after the constitutional deadline of 30 days for the constitution of the Assembly could be resolved.
Osmani requests clarification from the Constitutional Court on what action will be taken after July 26, if the constitution of the Assembly is still not achieved.
"I would like to inform you, esteemed media, esteemed citizens, that today, in fulfillment of my constitutional responsibility, to guarantee the democratic and constitutional functioning of the country's institutions, I have filed a request with the Constitutional Court of the Republic of Kosovo to review the conflict of constitutional competences, created by the possibility of constituting the Assembly of the Republic of Kosovo.
"This is a request that is presented after an unprecedented situation in the institutional life of our country," Osmani declared.
She added that if a vote on the constitution of the Assembly were to take place in the coming days, she would withdraw the request. But she stressed that she was forced to submit this request as long as "neither consensus nor compromise for the constitution of the Assembly is visible on the horizon within this constitutional deadline" ordered by the Court.
This request by President Osmani comes after the constitution of the Kosovo Assembly failed for the 50th time a day ago.
