The president of a football team in Turkey has been executed in cold blood inside a restaurant in Istanbul where he was dining with a friend.

The cold-blooded perpetrator, dressed in black and wearing a hat, entered the restaurant filled with customers and with a single pistol bullet shot 49-year-old Tuncay Meric in the back of the head, on the outskirts of the Cekmekoy neighborhood.

Cameras recorded the murder of the president of the Alemdag Spor team on Wednesday evening and were immediately published by the media.

The perpetrator approaches him and, after pulling a gun from his belt, shoots him once in the head, causing panic among the customers, while he immediately flees.

Immediately after the incident, security forces launched a wide-ranging investigation to identify the perpetrator. According to Interior Minister Ali Gerlikaya, the main suspect, a 17-year-old, tried to flee the country and was found in Edirne, where he was arrested. Along with him, a 64-year-old man who hid the suspect in his home and tried to escape is also being held by authorities.

An eyewitness described the moment of the murder:

"I was sitting in a cafe with friends. I got up to go to the toilet. I was watching footage of a fight. There was no debate, no dialogue. Suddenly, a young middle-aged man raised his gun towards the man next to him and shot him. Everyone was running at that moment, I lay on the ground."
According to the media, Turkish authorities announced that the investigation into the motives and circumstances of the murder is underway, with the case shocking the country's sporting and political public opinion, but the causes still remain unknown.
