Vance on Alaska meeting: We are preparing a Putin-Zelensky meeting, but after
J.D. Vance

US Vice President JD Vance said the United States was working on talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

In an interview with Fox News, he said he didn't think it would be productive for Putin to sit down with Zelensky before meeting with US President Donald Trump.

Vance also added that his administration hoped to reach a negotiated solution between Russia and Ukraine, but warned that both sides would probably be unhappy with the outcome.

Addressing the possibility of sanctioning China for buying Russian oil, Vance noted that Trump was still considering his options and had not yet made a decision.

Vance further said that President Donald Trump is seeking a quick end to the conflict in the Middle East and especially the situation in Gaza.

He said the Trump administration is trying to stop Hamas from "killing innocent people," secure the release of Israeli hostages, and resolve the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip.

"What the president of the United States has said is that he wants to be a president of peace," Vance told Fox News, adding that Trump is trying to "achieve all three of those things."

"He is encouraging - through every diplomatic method possible - a rapid end to the conflict, for the hostages to return home, for the people of Gaza to receive a free flow of humanitarian aid," Vance summarized.
