TRAGIC in Italy/ Mother found drowned at sea, 8-year-old son stabbed to death in
Najoua Minniti

Italian authorities discovered two victims yesterday evening in different areas of Salento .

The victims are a mother and son, Najoua Minniti , 35, was found in the sea near Torre dell'Orso by a diver who immediately notified the coast guard.

In her apartment in Calimera , the carabinieri found her 8-year-old son, Elia Perrone, dead. He was found with signs of violence caused by a sharp instrument.

The 8-year-old's father had notified authorities after he was unable to contact his ex-wife, while the boy had not shown up at school yesterday.

The Lecce prosecutor's office is investigating the possibility that Minniti may have killed the child and then thrown himself into the sea, but further results and verifications completed by the autopsy are awaited.

Initial evidence indicates that the suspect had an argument on the phone around 12:30 and then drove away. Two hours later, her body was found in the sea.

She worked in tourist resorts, but was reportedly going through personal and financial difficulties recently. Just a few weeks ago, she posted a family photo on social media with the caption: " We are doing well, we all get together every now and then ."
