Tragedy in Russia, New Year's "Santa Claus" falls from the fifth
The tragic moment

A tragedy has occurred in the Russian city of Chelyabinsk, after a man dressed as Santa Claus fell from the fifth floor of a building and died on the spot.

The man dressed as Santa Claus (also known as Father Christmas) intended to climb the balcony of a 5-story building with a sack full of gifts to surprise a group of children.

But unfortunately, he collapsed and died on the spot. Many of those present did not understand the situation at first, as they thought that the fall might be part of some scenario.

Authorities later clarified that the fall was caused by a malfunction in the ropes, while prosecutors are investigating the incident.

Event organizers said the man had told them he was a professional climber.
