The death toll from the earthquake in Ishikawa, Japan, rises to 78. Japanese media reports that 330 people were injured and as a result were admitted to hospital, as some of them received serious injuries.
On January 2, Japan was hit by an earthquake with a magnitude of 7.6, where there were also aftershocks, but with a lower degree. Meanwhile, rescue teams are facing very difficult weather conditions today as they continue efforts to find survivors.
Japanese authorities have warned of heavy rainfall today and possible landslides across the affected area on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture, a long strip of land in the Sea of Japan. "Stay alert for landslides until Wednesday evening," the Japan Meteorological Agency warned.
