Today is the deadline for the constitution of the Assembly of Kosovo

The deputies elected on February 9 have once again failed to constitute the Assembly of Kosovo, this Saturday.

The same scenario was repeated for the 53rd time, where Vetevendosje insisted on secret ballots, which was not supported by the parties that were in opposition until now.

The constituent session was interrupted and in order to make the most of the few remaining hours in the 30-day deadline set by the Constitutional Court, deputies will gather once again on the evening of July 26.

"As part of the efforts to establish the Assembly of Kosovo, we meet tonight at 22:00. After the interruption of this continuation, the other parties, except the Vetevendosje Movement, continued the "protest session", under the leadership of Sala Jashari, the youngest member of the Assembly, and the parties expressed their dissatisfaction with the situation", said Avni Dehari, chairman of the constituent session.

"The authoritarian and dictatorial mentality that Albin Kurti is trying to install in this Assembly of Kosovo has come to an end and we will not allow it to pass," said Memli Krasniqi-MP, PDK.

"Since yesterday we have known that we will meet today and you have seen that it has been reported that there is no kind of effort, nor today there is any kind of effort, it is hypocrisy to be invited at 22:00 knowing in advance the result," said Hykmete Bajrami, MP, LDK.

"It is clear that Kurti is also using the name of Albulena Haxhiu, not because he probably insists that it is a solution, but I think he intends to take this situation to infinity. It is clear that he does not have the numbers", said Daut Haradinaj-MP, AAK.

It was expected that before the expiration of the 30-day deadline, the Vetevendosje Movement and the Social Democratic Initiative would conclude political agreements to resolve the impasse, but it seems that this did not happen even in the first session on Saturday.

"This situation could not have come to where it has come for how many months it has been. I believe that maybe it is good for all MPs to wait for the Constitutional Court's verdict", said Fatmir Limaj-MP, NISMA.

The elected MPs will not be able to convene in the constituent session after July 26, as the Constitutional Court has imposed an interim measure suspending any action or decision in the direction of the constitution of the Assembly.

The measure will last from July 27 to August 8, when it is expected that the Constitutional Court will issue a final decision that provides a solution to the blockade created from April 15.
