"There is no rape without the woman's desire"/ The

Indignation and strong reactions have been caused in Greece by the unacceptable and obscurantist statements of the Metropolitan of Dhodhonis, Chrysostomos, who, invited to a television show, has asserted that no woman is raped against her will and that in order to become pregnant a woman must "to have that participation as well".

His statement has been severely condemned by some of the government ministers, among whom the cabinet spokesman Mitsotakis has emphasized that: " The position of the metropolitan of Dhodhoni does not express either the values of our society or the doctrine of our faith ".

Even representatives of the opposition parties have expressed their deep indignation for his statements, which they called shameful. At the same time, the Holy Synod of the Greek Church has condemned these statements, unacceptable for a cleric, which insult people and especially women and rape victims".

In the press release, the Synod points out that Metropolitan Chrisostomos spoke on the TV show representing himself and not the positions of the Church and that his statements on the concrete issue of rape, among other things, tarnish and invalidate essential initiatives and silent work of the Church of Greece that stands every day next to abused women to support them.

While there is still no reaction from the cleric in question, seven women have filed a lawsuit in the Court of First Instance of Thessaloniki based on the anti-racist law, following his delusional statements about rapes and abortions.

In the indictment, among other things, it is said, " it is barbaric to abuse you twice. " Your words are worse than the rape itself ." The statements of the Metropolitan of Dodhoni have caused a wide wave of anger throughout the Greek society.
