President Vladimir Putin has accused Ukraine of attacking the bridge in Crimea annexed by Russia, saying it was an "act of terrorism".
He emphasized that the Ukrainian intelligence forces aimed with this action to destroy a critical part of Russia's civil infrastructure.
Russian officials said three people were killed as they were in a car when the explosion occurred in a truck crossing the bridge.
The 20-kilometer-long Kerch Bridge is an important supply artery for Russian troops fighting in Ukraine. It is seen by the Kremlin as a symbol of its asserted control over Crimea, which Russia annexed in 2014. So far no one has claimed responsibility for the blast that occurred early Saturday morning, but the damage to the bridge is being seen as a heavy blow for Russia and President Putin.

Ukraine has denied that it is behind the attack. "The explosion on the so-called Putin's bridge, in our opinion, is an internal operation of the Russian secret services," explained Podolyak, Zelensky's adviser, adding that "all operations, such as the killing of Dugin's daughter, the explosions at the Nord Stream gas pipelines and the explosion on the Kerch bridge bear the Russian signature".
