US President Joe Biden said on Wednesday that he would not support any Israeli attack on Iran's nuclear facilities and centers in response to Tehran's attack and called on Israel to respond in a "proportionate" manner.
President Biden spoke a day after Iran fired 180 ballistic missiles at Israel and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed that Iran would pay for the attack.
"We will discuss with the Israelis what they will do, but the G7 countries agree that Israel has the right to respond, but they should respond proportionately," President Biden told reporters.
Asked if he would support Israel to strike Iran's nuclear facilities as it has long threatened, President Biden told reporters that "the answer is no."
Mr. Biden said that more sanctions should be imposed on Iran and he would hold a conversation with Prime Minister Netanyahu soon./VOA
