The prestigious TIME magazine, citing two sources from Iran's Ministry of Health, reports that the death toll from the mass protests in the country has reached at least 30,000 people. This data strongly contradicts the official version of the Islamic Republic.
According to reports, during the two peak days of clashes alone, at least 30,000 people were killed on the streets across the country, a figure that completely paralyzed the state mechanism of repression, as well as the logistical capacities for the burial and transportation of bodies.
Iranian government officials who spoke to TIME confirmed that the intensity of the killings on Thursday and Friday was so great that national reserves for “corpse management” were exhausted in a very short time.
Sources say that due to the extraordinary number of victims, the ambulance system was blocked, forcing authorities to use heavy trucks (trailers) to transport the dead.
In another part of the report, epidemiology experts and historians of large-scale massacres compare the situation in Iran in January 2026 to the devastation of World War II.
