Britain's far-right leader Tommy Robinson has been arrested and charged under the Terrorism Act and is being held in custody.

His detention comes ahead of a planned march by supporters amid fears of a repeat of the violence that erupted when he was arrested in 2018.

Robinson, whose real name is Stephen Yaxley-Lennon, was taken to Folkestone police station on Friday afternoon where he was charged with failing to hand over his mobile phone PIN under Schedule 7 of the Terrorism Act.

He has been remanded in custody under the guidance of the High Court, Kent Police.

In July, Robinson allegedly refused to give police access to his mobile phone when he was detained under the Terrorism Act in the Channel Tunnel. He was bailed to return to Folkestone police station.

Robinson is known for his anti-Islam and anti-illegal immigration stances, which he says are turning Britain into a third-world country. He has often called for their mass deportation.
