Israeli Prime Minister Yair Lapid warned on Thursday that military cooperation between Russia and Iran over Moscow's alleged use of Iranian-made drones to attack Ukraine poses a global risk.
"Obviously, we think that relations between Russia and Iran are a serious problem not only for Israel, but also for Ukraine, Europe and the whole world," Lapid said according to The Times of Israel.
Lapid added that it is "absolutely unacceptable" that Tehran has given drones to Russian troops.
"Iran is a dangerous terrorist state and the fact that Russia does business with it endangers the whole world," explained the Prime Minister of Israel.
On the other hand, Lapid did not mention Kiev's request for air defense systems to defend against Russian missile launches that have hit several Ukrainian cities in recent days. Israeli Defense Minister Benny Gantz has repeatedly stated that Israel will not send weapons systems to Ukraine. This Monday, the deputy director of the Russian Security Council and former Russian president, Dmitri Medvedev, assured that any "reckless" supply of military equipment from Israel to Ukraine "will destroy all interstate relations between our countries."
Since the beginning of the war in Ukraine, Israel has tried to maintain a neutral position while offering moral support to Kiev, but the introduction of Iranian drones into the Russian military has changed Israel's position.
