A fugitive wanted by the FBI for more than two decades has been captured in North Wales, authorities said. Daniel Andreas San Diego, 46, was one of the FBI's "most wanted terrorists" for two bombings in the San Francisco area in 2003.
He now faces extradition to the US after he was arrested at a property in a remote rural area near the forests of north Wales by Britain's National Crime Agency (NCA).
US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) Director Christopher Wray said: "The arrest of Daniel San Diego after more than 20 years as a fugitive for two bombings in the San Francisco area shows that no matter how long it takes , the FBI will find you and hold you accountable."
The FBI previously called the suspect — who was born in Berkeley, California — an "animal rights extremist" — who was wanted for allegedly bombing two San Francisco-area office buildings in 2003.
He became the first suspected domestic terrorist to be added to the US agency's most-wanted terrorist list, and a $250,000 (£199,000) reward was made available for information leading to his arrest. .
According to the agency, in August of that year, two bombs exploded about an hour apart on the campus of a biotechnology corporation in Emeryville, California. Then, in September of the same year, a nail bomb exploded at a grocery store in Pleasanton, also in California.
