Iran's Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said he does not know how much "space is left for diplomacy" after the United States struck Iranian nuclear facilities.

"They crossed a very big red line by attacking nuclear facilities... We must respond based on our legitimate right to self-defense," Araghchi said.

Araghchi said Iran has a "variety of options available" when asked if his country is considering closing the Strait of Hormuz, a vital waterway in the Persian Gulf that, if closed, could affect global oil and gas exports.

Iran's top diplomat said he has been in contact with several foreign ministers from the region and "almost all of them are very concerned" and are interested in playing a role in stopping "Israeli aggression."
