The horror ends at a TV station in Ecuador, where staff were kidnapped by gunmen who also threatened to carry bombs.
The Ecuadorian police announced that they finally managed to free all the media staff held hostage, and arrested 13 people.
The BBC reports that two staff members were injured during the incident.
"One cameraman was shot in the leg and another had his arm broken in the attack," said the deputy news director.
Meanwhile, the AFP news agency reports that during the hostage-taking, shouts of "Don't shoot, please don't shoot" were heard.
“Please, they came in to kill us. God don't let this happen. Criminals are on the air,” a TC AFP employee wrote in a WhatsApp message.
"I heard a voice from my headphones saying: Be careful, they're trying to break in, they're stealing, they're robbing us," Jorge Rendon told Reuters news agency.
"The doors in the studio are very thick, almost bulletproof, and they were trying to get in because they wanted access to the studio, so we would live stream whatever they told us to," he said.
Posting videos of the arrested suspects on social media and their weapons, police said the perpetrators would be "punished for acts of terrorism".
