The leader of the Vetevendosje Movement, Albin Kurti, spoke at a media conference today, December 28, after VV's victory with nearly 50 percent of the vote.
Kurti said that today the people of Kosovo have triumphed. He added that institutions must be established immediately, underlining that we must move forward without delay.
"This was a magnificent victory. On February 9, the Vetevendosje Movement and its partners won. Today, the people of Kosovo won. We must move forward without delay. We must create institutions as soon as possible and continue with the good and necessary work. The EU Growth Plan awaits us. Over 1 billion euros await us. I invite the opposition to agreements in the public interest, like international agreements. Congratulations to the citizens, the diaspora and everyone without distinction ," Kurti said.
Kurti was also asked about the Vetëvendosje Movement's relations with Tirana, saying that cooperation with Albania has always been excellent and will continue to be so.
The Vetëvendosje Movement secured 49.79% of the votes in Kosovo's snap elections, held this Sunday.
The preliminary result published by the Central Election Commission puts Albin Kurti's party as the leading force, followed by PDK with 21.19%, LDK with 13.77% and AAK with 5.74%.
