Joe Biden: US military to help Israel

U.S. President Joe Biden instructed the U.S. military to help defend Israel against Iranian attacks and shoot down rockets targeting Israel, the White House National Security Council said.

NSC spokesman Sean Savett said in a post on X (ex-Twitter) that Joe Biden and U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris are monitoring the attack from the White House situation room and receiving regular updates.

"President Biden directed the U.S. military to help defend Israel against Iranian attacks and to shoot down rockets targeting Israel," the White House said in a statement. Furthermore, the White House informed that a phone call Joe Biden had scheduled with rabbis ahead of the Jewish holiday season had been postponed for another day.

The United States had also intervened to help defend Israel against a combined Iranian missile and drone attack in April this year, which Tehran launched in retaliation for an Israeli attack on the Iranian consulate in Damascus.
