James Hankins, one of the most important scholars of history and the Italian Renaissance, has announced his final departure from Harvard University after a 40-year career. He accuses the institution of replacing history with ideology.

James Hankins is not leaving because he has retired. Although he has been a professor emeritus since 1985 and the author of over 20 books translated around the world, he has decided to terminate his contract due to what he calls the university's "moral and intellectual disorientation."

Why is Hankins leaving?

According to the professor, Harvard and other elite universities in America have taken a wrong turn for several main reasons:

He says that "Western History" is being erased to be replaced with an ideologized "Global History," which is causing young people to not recognize their roots.

Hankins recounts shocking cases where brilliant (white male) students have been rejected from doctoral programs solely because of race and gender, following unofficial “diversity” protocols.

The professor also criticized strict measures during the pandemic, such as mask-wearing classes and Zoom seminars, which he said destroyed the true meaning of education.

He mentions that after the Black Lives Matter protests, the university collectively "kneeled", severely affecting the way academic work was conducted.

"When you don't teach them civilization, people become uncivilized"

Hankins won't be sitting idly by. He has announced that he will be transferring to the University of Florida (Hamilton School), an institution that is still dedicated to teaching the history of Western civilization.

According to him, this crisis is not new. The process of "root destruction" began in the 1960s, but today it has reached a point where civilization itself is denying itself.

He believes that the solution does not come from politics (such as from Trump), but from within the education system, creating competition with new teaching models.
