Here's how much Queen Elizabeth's fortune is and how it will be

With the death of Queen Elizabeth II, the new King Charles III and his wife Camilla inherit an inheritance that Forbes has estimated at 90 billion euros.

Elizabeth II was actually the richest woman in the world, even if all her assets are not known exactly. The 90 billion estimated by the US magazine, however, is split between various members of the royal family.

Every inheritance is shrouded in secrecy for at least a century, and so it was for the will of Philip, Elizabeth's wife, who according to some estimates would have left her assets worth around 35 million euros. However, in July, The Guardian was able to consult 33 wills it had recently come across.

Although they were more members of the royal family, there were bequests to the crown of €215 million, all at Elizabeth's disposal. The Queen also had an annual sum paid by the British Parliament to carry out her "work" in peace, which will now be available to Charles and Camilla.

In 2021, the amount exceeded the equivalent of 100 million euros for the first time. In addition to the salary for the Queen and therefore now for the King and his wife, the "Privy Purse", also arrived the income from the properties of the Duchy of Lancaster. It is about four funds always paid since 1399.

Among the various possessions not to be shared with other branches of the family are the crown jewels, stored and rigorously protected by sophisticated security systems in the House of Jewels within the Tower of London, built in 1066 by King William. Their market value is difficult to estimate, but they are valued in assets in any case for a not insignificant figure: 4.3 billion euros.

Among the directly owned real estate is the Scottish castle of Balmoral. It is the traditional summer residence of the rulers and is valued at around 150 million euros. More than double the estimated €70 million for the Sandringham winter residence, where the royal family usually spends the holiday season.

In general, therefore, from the various properties owned, the young King Charles with his wife Camilla will be able to count on an annual liquidity of about 700 million euros, which can obviously be invested according to the indications of the King.
