The Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Jim Jordan, has called to testify former special counsel Jack Smith, who also served as a prosecutor in the Office of the Specialist Prosecutor in The Hague that also filed the indictment against Hashim Thaçi and others.

Jordan instructed Smith to appear before the committee on December 17, according to a document in Fox News Digital's possession.

“Because of your service as Special Counsel, the Committee believes that you possess information that is vital to the oversight of this matter,” Jordan wrote in his request.

Also attached to this subpoena is a request to include all documents and communications related to Smith's time as an advisor.

The upcoming testimony, which will be held behind closed doors, comes as House and Senate Republicans have focused on Smith's investigation of Trump in connection with the election, describing it as a scandal that unnecessarily implicated hundreds of Republican lawmakers, Republican insiders, Trump allies and the media as part of the investigation.

Jack Smith, who led the investigation into President Donald Trump's handling of classified documents and suspected efforts to undo the 2020 election.

Smith dropped both cases after Trump won the 2024 election, relying on a Justice Department policy that discourages the prosecution of sitting presidents.

Smith has already offered to testify publicly before the House and Senate Judiciary Committees, but according to Fox sources, Jordan prefers such testimony because each side on the committee can question Smith for an hour.

Jack Smith was the chief prosecutor of the Special Prosecution Office in The Hague, which investigates crimes allegedly committed by the former Kosovo Liberation Army during and after the war.

He has resigned as chief prosecutor of the special court in The Hague tasked with investigating and prosecuting war crimes in Kosovo.
