The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, has stated that two resignations regarding the rape of an 11-year-old girl in Pristina are not enough.
Through a reaction on social networks, Kurti emphasized that weak indictments by prosecutors enable the perpetrators to often go unpunished.
While, according to him, the courts do not judge cases of rape in accordance with the laws in force, which foresee punishments of at least 10 years for sexual violence against a person under the age of 14.
Among other things, Kurti underlined that society and the state in Kosovo cannot bear the cost of the lack of work and irresponsibility of prosecutors and judges.
Two days ago, citizens of Tirana gathered in "Mother Teresa" square to protest the rape of an 11-year-old girl in Kosovo by 5 people.
Four of the perpetrators were immediately put in handcuffs, while the fifth person involved in the macabre event was arrested on Tuesday afternoon.
For this occasion, the Director of the Kosovo Police, Samedin Mehmeti, has also resigned.
