Greek farmers continue strike, nationwide meeting on Saturday

Farmers and ranchers in the western region of Greece are awaiting the decisions of the meeting to be held in Nikaia, Larisa, to proceed with their next steps.

In Aitoloakarnania, the Antirio - Ioannina highway remains closed for the seventh consecutive day, with vehicles being diverted to the old national road.

Also, in Agrinio, middle and high school students began occupying schools, demonstrating their support for farmers.

At the same time, farmers and herders remain at the checkpoints that have been set up at the Evinos bridge, near Messolonghi. In Achaia, the Eglykados intersection, near the Corinth – Patras – Pyrgos highway, remains closed for the fifth consecutive day due to road blockage, with vehicles being diverted to the local road network of Patras.

Also, farmers of western Achaia and Aegialia continue to remain at the blockades of Kato Achaia and Aegialia, continuing almost daily in a short hour-long blockade of the Patras – Pyrgos and Patras – Corinth highways, respectively.

In Ilia, farmers remain at the blockade that exists at the Pyrgos intersection and close the Patras - Pyrgos highway for several hours, as well as at the blockade that has been set up on the old national road Patras - Pyrgos, in the Lechaina area.
