Elon Musk and the president of Italy, Sergio Mattarella, are engaged in a long-distance debate. The reason was the comments made on the decisions of the Rome judges on the return of illegal immigrants from the detention centers in Albania to Italy.
"Mister X", who has been nominated for an important role in the new US government of President-elect Donald Trump, criticizes the chain of decision-making in Italy, as he shares the information of a user on his social network who says that the country's borders European will remain open.
"This is unacceptable. Do the people of Italy live in a democracy or does an unelected autocracy make the decisions?", said Musk.
Earlier, Elon Musk wrote against the justice's decision, demanding the removal of the judges who are currently blocking the implementation of the protocol between Italy and Albania for the management of the flow of illegal immigrants. President Mattarella's reaction was blunt.
"Italy is a great democratic state and I have to reiterate, the words said on another occasion on October 7, 2022, that 'it knows how to take care of itself in accordance with its Constitution'", underlined the head of the Italian state.
"Anyone, especially if, as he has been warned, will take an important government role in a friendly and ally country, he must respect his sovereignty and cannot take on the task of giving him prescriptions," concluded Mattarella.
A strong reaction has also come from the association for the protection of members of the justice system in Italy, mentioning that "just as it seeks to protect the borders against illegal immigrants, it must be careful not to cross the line of intervention in the affairs of a other state".
