Donald Trump's eldest son said his father could withdraw from the Ukraine peace process, arguing that the issue is not a priority for Americans and suggesting that Europe needs a more effective plan.

Speaking in a wide-ranging discussion on Sky News, Donald Trump Jr. addressed issues related to the US government's recent diplomatic initiatives around the world.

Trump Jr. spoke in his capacity as a businessman, introducing the "America First" program for investments in defense technology and artificial intelligence (AI), directly linking global stability to economic prosperity.

When asked directly if he thought it was possible for the US president to walk away from the Ukraine process, he replied: "I think he could walk away. What's great about my father and what makes him unique is that you never know what he's going to do. He's unpredictable." He promised that the US would no longer be "the idiot with the checkbook."

Donald Trump Jr. also said that Ukraine's "corrupt" rich had fled their country, leaving "what they considered the peasant class" to fight. He accused Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky of continuing the fight to avoid defeat in the upcoming election, arguing that his continued recognition from the left makes him almost a "god," while his country is "far more corrupt than Russia."

He also criticized the EU's foreign policy chief, Kaia Kallas, saying that European sanctions had no effect, as they simply increased the price of oil, from which Russia could finance the war. He described the European plan as "expecting Russia to go bankrupt - this is not a plan".

He said that during the 2022 campaign, he met only three people who considered the war in Ukraine one of his top 10 issues. The danger of Venezuelan ships carrying the drug fentanyl to the United States was, he said, “a much clearer and more immediate danger than anything that was happening in Ukraine or Russia.”
