The Prime Minister of Kosovo, Albin Kurti, called the decision of the Special Court for Salih Mustafa, who was sentenced to 26 years in prison for war crimes against Albanians, outrageous.
In a post he made on social networks, Kurti emphasized that thousands of Serb killers have not been punished or tried for the atrocities committed, while Salih Mustafa has only been punished for fighting against the invaders of his country.
"Meanwhile, there are thousands of murderers from Serbia who have never been punished or tried for the atrocities they committed in the Balkans. Only 26 Serbs have been convicted for over 12,000 murders and over 20,000 sexually assaulted in Kosovo. It seems to me that each of the Serbian convicts on average killed over 462 Albanians and raped 770 people.
And yet they have received much lighter sentences than the one given today to Salih Mustafa, who fought not to conquer another country, but to liberate his country. This verdict is outrageous. What is the message that this verdict gives to the Ukrainians who today fight against the aggressor? I remain hopeful that the independent institutions of justice will understand the injustice and will reflect on the other levels of judgment", Kurti emphasizes.
