The Italian media have published an audio recording of former Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi and his statements have shocked Italian politics quite a bit.

Berlusconi is heard acting as the lawyer of the Russian president, Vladimir Putin, and explains that the war in Ukraine started because of its leader, Volodymyr Zelensky.

The interception is part of the same speech where Berlusconi revealed his invaluable friendship with Putin and that he had exchanged "very sweet letters" and bottles of alcohol with him.

According to Berlusconi, the Ukrainian president is to blame for the war there.

"Do you know how it happened in Russia? Please be very reserved about this as well. promise?
