A family dinner ended in bloodshed in southern Poland on Sunday evening.

A 32-year-old man killed his parents and brother with a firearm.

Then to escape arrest, he ended his life with a firearm.

As foreign media reports, the family was having dinner, when suddenly the 32-year-old opened fire on his parents and brother, who unfortunately died on the spot.

The 32-year-old perpetrator then held his brother's partner and her children, two daughters aged 5 and 7, hostage, Polish media reported.

The woman managed to escape and asked for help. The house was surrounded by numerous police forces and a special negotiator tried, for hours, to convince the killer to surrender.

At around 5am, special police forces men were given the green light to raid the house.

After managing to save the children, police forces confronted the gunman, who preferred to end his life to avoid arrest.

The Polish News Agency (PAP) reports that the killer used a weapon that he legally possessed. The authorities are conducting investigations to clarify the exact circumstances of the massacre as well as the author's motive.
