The Bahamas becomes the next country to recognize Kosovo!

The Bahamas, a country in the Caribbean, recognized Kosovo's independence on Friday, announced President Vjosa Osmani.

In a Facebook announcement, Osmani said that the agreement on the recognition of Kosovo by the Bahamas was reached in the Bahamas' capital, Nassau.

"Another historic decision for our country," she wrote.

The Bahamas has now become the 121st country to recognize Kosovo, a decision that is expected to anger Serbia, which has been continuously fighting for its neighbor's independence.

The agreement for the recognition of Kosovo by the Atlantic Ocean island nation and the establishment of diplomatic relations between the two countries was signed by President Osmani and the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, Philip Davis.

In a joint statement, Kosovo and the Bahamas said they are committed to the purposes and principles of the United Nations Charter, including respect for sovereignty, equality of states and the peaceful resolution of disputes, Radio Free Europe reports.

They agreed to develop their relations on the basis of mutual respect, reciprocity and constructive engagement.

"The Bahamas and Kosovo express their intention to deepen cooperation in areas of mutual interest, including political consultations, trade and investment, tourism, education and culture, technology and innovation, public sector cooperation, as well as people-to-people exchanges, in accordance with the laws and procedures of each respective country," the statement said.
