Activist Greta Thunberg arrested in London

Swedish activist Greta Thunberg was arrested in London today by British police while participating in a pro-Palestinian protest in the center of the capital.

The arrest was confirmed by the City of London Police, who said the 22-year-old was arrested for displaying a placard in support of the banned organisation Palestine Action, in breach of Section 13 of the Terrorism Act 2000.

According to foreign media, the protest was organized in solidarity with eight members of Palestine Action, who are in detention and have been on hunger strike for more than 50 days, in protest against the trial and conditions of imprisonment.

"I support the prisoners of 'Palestine Action'. I oppose genocide," read the placard Thunberg held.

Thunberg became known after organizing climate protests in front of the Swedish parliament in 2018.
