The Judicial Council of Criminal Offenses of Lamia in Greece, reviewed this Friday the request of the Albanian, Alket Rizai, to be released on bail from Domokos prison.
According to LamiaReport.gr, the case of the 47-year-old Albanian has been postponed to June 6, 2025, as stated by one of his lawyers, Kostas Nousas, after his client was temporarily transferred to the Korydallos Detention Center, for a procedural matter.
Alket Rizai has been sentenced to life imprisonment twice, while the sentences for other offenses reach up to 25 years.
Alket Rizai has been in prison for 21 years since he was first arrested in 2003, after escapes during that time allowed him to enjoy only a few months of freedom. But in recent years, his behavior had even allowed him to receive leave from prison, as in January 2021.
At that time, in an area of Lamia, police officers from the Rapid Action Department who were checking a suspicious vehicle in which two criminals were riding, saw Alket Rizai, who had received a legal 5-day permit, also riding.
The last time Alket Rizai crossed the threshold of the Lamia courts was a year ago, to be tried by the Lamia Minor Offenses Court for weapons and cell phones that were found in his cell. He was later found not guilty.
