Albin Kurti avoids Vjosa Osmani's name for president

Kosovo Prime Minister Albin Kurti has stated that the election of the president requires a wider majority than the formal constitutional minimum, in order to avoid the risk of new parliamentary elections.

Kurti stressed that the presence and vote of every MP is crucial to the process. According to him, even a single absence could invalidate the vote and automatically lead the country to elections.

"We can't go on a trip with 80 people and end up with 79, because we're immediately going to the elections," he said.

The Prime Minister added that the majority's objective is to secure around 84-85 votes, so that the process is sustainable and does not depend on the eventual absence of deputies.

He said that communications and meetings between parties are continuing precisely for this reason, describing avoiding elections as an "absolute priority."

However, Kurti did not give a concrete answer regarding the possibility of the current president, Vjosa Osmani, running.

According to him, discussions between political entities have been constructive, but have not yet produced concrete steps, while emphasizing that opportunities for agreement exist and it is not necessary for the country to go to elections.
