The incumbent government of Kosovo has approved the draft budget for 2026, even though a few days ago in Parliament, Albin Kurti was unable to form a new government cabinet.

The value of next year's budget will be 4 billion euros.

A 13th month salary is foreseen for the public sector, an increase of 0.5% for each year of work for public sector employees, support for maternity leave, and an increase in old-age pensions from 120 to 130.

The government approves the increase in the minimum wage, going to 500 euros, but the increase will be made in two phases.

"Although we are a government in office, through the law on the government, the Assembly has foreseen that even in such situations where the formation of institutions may take longer than necessary, the state continues to function. Specifically, paragraph 5 of Article 31 of the law foresees that even the Government that has completed its full mandate, as is the case with us, may propose the annual budget to the Assembly as defined in paragraph 2 of this same article," Kurti declared.

The minimum wage for next year will increase gradually, said the acting Minister of Finance, Hekuran Murati.

"From January 1, 2026, the minimum wage will increase by 2.5 euros per hour, 425 euros per month, and starting from July 1, the second phase will be set at 3 euros per working hour, which would be equivalent to 500 euros per month," said Murati.
