Prime Minister Rama's "lightning" order last year to reform the directors in the Municipality of Vlora seems to have fallen on "deaf ears".

Even though 21 directors of the Municipality of Vlora resigned en masse, it seems that with the new mayor we have their return.

Such is the case of Sokol Kananaj,  although he resigned in 2025, he is expected to return to the director's chair.

The VoxNews editorial office has received a complaint stating that Kananaj was removed from office a few months ago after unblocking an account that should not have been done because the subject had tax obligations to the Municipality of Vlora.

He had been a director there and left office. His case is in the Prosecutor's Office. How is it possible for a person with violations to return to Taxes again ?"

As stated in the above document, Kananaj will be appointed director of the Taxpayer Service Directorate, in the Vlora Regional Directorate.

The DAP announcement states that there is only one candidate and "fate" has caught up with Sokol Kananaj, the latter from being a director at UKT, at the Vlora Municipality Taxes is being reappointed as "head" of the Vlora Taxes.

The resignations in Albanian municipalities following Prime Minister Rama's order seem to have been made only for show, without any real change in the functioning of the structures or the true responsibilities of the leaders.
