Foreigners invest in mining and construction in Albania

Foreign direct investment in Albania increased during 2021, according to data released by the Bank of Albania.

The data say that over the past year, foreign direct investment for the first time captured the figure of 1 billion euros, up from 934 mln in 2020.

The most attractive sectors for foreign investors were mining, with 99ml euros, followed by real estate and construction with 50ml euros and about 38ml euros the financial sector and the insurance market.

The Netherlands was the main source of foreign direct investment with 96ml euros, followed by Italy with 36ml euros and Turkey with 23ml euros.

The strongest growth was recorded in the fourth quarter, where it captured 302ml euros.
