Prime Minister Edi Rama is holding a conversation with oil suppliers this Wednesday, March 18, following the global increase in fuel prices, as a result of the conflict in the Middle East.
According to the Prime Minister, this meeting is being held with the aim of "coping together the impact of the current global crisis, while protecting consumers as much as possible."
Edi Rama: I have currently received information from the ministers and before I pass the floor to them, I would like to express in a way the positive consideration for your approach, which has been a responsible approach, if overall, in the market and through the stock exchanges a 40% increase has been observed that causes great repression, in Albania the price has increased in a more moderate way than the increase that has been seen in some other countries.
The challenge is open, no one can say when the battle that keeps the price of oil will end. It is not known how the price will go on the stock exchange, but we will do what we have to do. Starting from the reserves, it is considered that you have a reasonable reserve, which is physically there. The whole situation remains to be monitored.
We are consulting on the law on state reserves, which will have to be physically extended to 100 days, three months, and I want to tell you that we are working to finalize an initiative to introduce a state factor to the market as a wholesale distributor, which will make your work easier.
