The Transparency Board has announced that the retail price of the SSH EN 590 standard diesel by-product should be no more than 192 lek/liter, while the wholesale price should be no more than 180 lek/liter.

Meanwhile, the retail price of the SSH EN standard gasoline by-product shall not exceed 172 lek/liter, while the wholesale price shall not exceed 160 lek/liter.
The prices set by the Board shall enter into force today, the 5th, at 13:00 and shall be valid until the next meeting of the Board where the changes in the sales prices shall be reflected.

It is announced that in case of violations found by various operators, the suspension of activity will be decided.

The Ministry of Economy and Innovation, together with the Ministry of Finance and the Ministry of Infrastructure and Energy, are committed to protecting the interests of Albanian consumers and preserving the principles of fair competition in the market.

EXPLANATION: Referring to Normative Act no. 1, Date 3.4.2026 “On an addition to Law No. 61/2012, “On Excise Duties in the Republic of Albania,” as amended, which provides that if the retail price for diesel is higher than 220 lek/liter, or for gasoline is higher than 200 lek/liter, the 80% excise duty rate shall be applied. Based on the implementation of the methodology for calculating the retail price ceiling, the prices are below the limit of Normative Act No. 1, date 3.4.2026, and consequently the excise duty rate shall be applied in full, 100%.
Diesel for fishing – the selling price of diesel for fishing, referred to Law 9975, date 28.07.2008 “On National Taxes”, in Article 9 “Exemptions from the payment of national taxes”, point 6 It is provided: …“Fishing vessels are exempt from paying the turnover tax and carbon tax. Also, referring to Article 10, point 3 letter “d” of Law 61/2012 “On excise duties in the Republic of Albania”, it is provided that fuel for fishing vessels is exempt from excise duties, in the quantities, conditions and criteria specified in the Council of Ministers. Referring to the methodology specified in the normative act, the selling price of diesel for fishing results in 96 lek.
