Since the beginning of "Foltores" a year ago, Berisha's main resistance has been in the North of the country, where PD is strongest. He almost couldn't get any deputies in Kukës, Shkodër, Dibër and Lezhë, and he had problems even with organizing rallies in the North.
Today, most of the heads of DP branches are again against him and committed, having support at the grassroots. The parallel structures that Berisha has created in the name of "Foltores" are weaker than those of the official DP.
This development is not related to provincialism or the pleasures of the northerners towards Berisha. The opposite could work. This development really shows that Berisha does not have control over the official PD, which practically has an overwhelming majority of votes in the North and is considered an electoral factor.
What he announces as a success in the South of Albania is a lie, since in the South, PD almost does not exist anymore. Some remaining and previously neglected individuals look to Berisha for an opportunity to appear on television, to "discover" that George Washington's mother was Maria from Peja or to identify themselves as persons who have been neglected by Lulzim Basha.
But also in the South, those remaining DP structures are clearly against Berisha, but they are simply the minority of the minority and do not stand out.
If you add to this the obvious crisis of the "Foltorja", even for natural persons to vote, opening the boxes for people on the street or mocking all the reasons for which he attacked Lulzim Basha for democracy within the DP, today the "Foltorja" of Berisha , it just looks like a hostage-taking team of the former Democratic Party, which, before the year is even over, has given all the evidence that it was all a move to give political immunity to Berisha in front of the USA. After a year, Mrs. Kokalari realized that she was tired in vain.
Berisha's attempt to now replace the DP, which has not gone after him, with the DP's allies, even so false, in order not to appear alone, is even more ridiculous. If a year ago it was Berisha who called for the opposition to unite around him, today supporters of the "unification" of the opposition are Mediu, Duka, Shehi, Ndoka, etc., who have no power except to stay with each other. the other to play cards, or drink brandy.
Even Ilir Meta, who is a small but real ally of the opposition, is thinking whether it is worth kneeling to Berisha or whether it is worth kneeling him. So far he is trying to bring him to his knees.
All this explains better why Berisha is being surprised by the North of Albania, which is not supporting him. In fact, it is not making any special surprise, but the lack of support is noticeable in the North, where PD is present. Where there is no PD, such as the South, there is nothing to stand out.
