Fire in Lura National Park, criminal proceedings against the monitoring chief

Investigations continue to fully elucidate the circumstances of the fire that engulfed the Lura National Park and to bring to justice the persons suspected of being responsible for the management and protection of the territory.

Criminal proceedings have been initiated against three people for the criminal offense of "Abuse of Office".

The persons prosecuted are KS, 35 years old, SL, 51 years old, both residents of Dibër, and AL, 64 years old, resident of Tirana. Two of them are environmental guards, while one was responsible for monitoring the national park.

According to the investigation, it is suspected that the persons in question did not take the necessary measures to preserve, supervise and protect the territory under their responsibility from fire. As a result of the fire, several hectares of forest area were damaged and burned.

Meanwhile, the police are intensively pursuing investigations to identify the perpetrator or perpetrators of the fire and bring them to criminal responsibility.

The procedural materials have been referred to the Dibra Prosecutor's Office for further action.
