Lefter Nika, a well-known orthopedist from Saranda, has been elected chairman of the MEGA Party, a political force that represents the interests of the Greek minority in Albania. Stefan Moraiti and Ziso Llutsi were also competing for this position, but Nika managed to secure the support of the majority of party members.
The elections were held in several centers, including Tirana, Saranda, Athens and Finiq, Dropulli and Mursina, reflecting the broad commitment of the MEGA Party membership. With this victory, Nika takes the leadership of a party that aims to increase the influence of the Greek minority in the political and social life of Albania.
Since its establishment in 2011, MEGA has been directed by Kristo Kiço, currently the prefect of Vlora. Under the leadership of Kiço, the party is committed to strengthening the representation of this community and has also requested support for the development of the Greek minority areas in Albania.
