Lawyer Arben Llangozi, in a Facebook post, states that the former director of ARRSH and KESH, Ergys Verdho, has hidden millions of assets in Greece in the name of his brother, Andrea Verdho.
The lawyer calls on the HIDAKKI and SPAK to verify Ergys Verdho's asset declarations, the source of funds and any element that may constitute a violation of the public interest.
Note from lawyer Arben Llangozi:
Another coincidence with millions of euros suspected of having been gained through corruption/This time, Rilindja director Ergys Verdho ate pears.
In Albania, the leaders of public institutions are rarely chosen for professionalism or integrity. More often, appointments seem to be the product of political loyalty and a constant rotation where the same names appear now in one institution, now in another. Today energy, tomorrow infrastructure, the day after tomorrow transport, while responsibility always remains unaddressed.
In this reality, Ergys Verdho, former director of the ARRSH, is mentioned as a case that raises serious questions about the control of assets and transparency of senior public officials. According to documents and data that have been obtained in the Greek state, there are suspicions of ownership links to real estate worth millions of euros.
The documentation shows that these assets were initially registered in the name of his brother, Andrea Verdho, and then transferred, raising doubts about the ultimate real ownership and the way the financial source was justified. The scheme of using family members as formal owners is a well-known practice in cases where the aim is to avoid the real declaration of assets.
If these data are confirmed, then we are dealing with an issue that requires immediate institutional investigation, were these assets declared according to the law? Do the legal income match the value of the properties? Was there a conflict of interest or concealment of assets? Legitimate questions, which to this day remain unanswered.
We are publishing the relevant documentation of assets worth millions of euros and we call on the HIDAKKI and SPAK to verify the asset declarations, the source of funds and any element that may constitute a violation of the public interest. Because in a normal state, the director should not be richer than the institution he leads.
