A more than 3,000-year-old vessel and material culture that make Lin's palafic settlement perhaps the largest in Europe. These are the research results of a group of Albanian-Swiss archaeologists made public by the Institute of Archeology!

A vessel belonging to the Middle Neolithic may turn out to be a unique find in the European range that comes to light in the area of Lin near Pogradec. At the annual conference of the Institute of Archaeology, archaeologist Adrian Anastasi gave details.

"We can certainly classify it as a unique discovery. We managed to identify a vessel, a pirogue, which is important in terms of vessels in that period, but it turns out to be among the few finds that have been made at the European level in terms of this period," said Anastasi.

Archaeological research in the area is being carried out by an Albanian-Swiss team led by Prof. Albert Hafner (University of Bern), Ilir Gjipali and Anastasi. Archaeologists are now waiting for the results of the analyzes of the conducted surveys, which could make the site of Lin's palace the largest in Europe.

"This survey gave the oldest dating in Europe. We are in 5710 BC and if these are confirmed, the Lin 3 palafit site is not only the largest in Europe, but it is the first to start using the palafit construction technique," he said.

The discovery of a rich material culture in Lin makes archaeologists think that the palafite settlements on the water may have their genesis in this area./News24
