The fire that engulfed the Bushati landfill site yesterday continues to be active today.

Yesterday alone, around 20 firefighters from the Municipality of Shkodra were deployed to extinguish the flames, which have been brought under control. Units from the municipalities of Lezhë, Tirana and Kamëz are also providing support, with additional equipment and personnel, ensuring a coordinated inter-institutional response.

Shkodra Prefect Holta Duda said yesterday evening that there is no risk to homes in the area.

However, the risk still remains present due to the nature of the waste and the possibility of reactivation of the fires.
