A 58-year-old Italian man was handcuffed by the Pogradec police, as he ran away from the scene after colliding with his vehicle, where he was transporting 13 immigrants against payment.

The police informs that following the work to crack down on the criminal activity of providing assistance to foreign citizens, against payment, in order to cross the border illegally, they arrested in the act Italian citizen Massimo Compagnone, 58 years old, resident in Italy.

The services of the Pogradec Police Station and those of the Road Police Sector, in the place called "Gurorja", near the village of Vërdovë, Pogradec, found the "Volvo" type vehicle that had collided with another vehicle, causing only material damage.

The driver of the "Volvo" vehicle, to avoid responsibility, had left the scene of the accident. During the control exercised in his vehicle, 13 immigrants from Third Countries were found, who from the investigations carried out, it turns out that the driver of the vehicle, a citizen of MC, had been promised transport to the EU, in exchange for a profit.

As material evidence, the "Volvo" type vehicle and 1 mobile device were seized.

The investigations for the full documentation of this criminal activity, the identification and the legal responsibility of the other citizens involved in it continue.

The procedural materials were passed to the Prosecutor's Office at the Court of First Instance of Korçë General Jurisdiction, for further actions.
