A violent collision with a car, followed by a hard fall to the ground, ended fatally and cut short the life of a young Albanian man in Italy.
Emergency services performed CPR at the scene, but the situation appeared critical from the start. Francesco Ajdini, 18, who lives with his family in Praticello di Gattatico, died after a road accident yesterday afternoon, at around 4pm, in Sorbolo di Parma, in Reggio Emilia.
According to initial reports, the young man was riding a scooter on Via Marconi, near the train station – along Provincial Road 62 – when the horrific collision with a car occurred.
According to an initial reconstruction, near the former Tigotà supermarket, a Fiat driven by a man was turning left when it collided with a 125cc scooter driven by an 18-year-old, who was travelling towards Reggio. The young man, who was wearing a helmet, ended up on the asphalt.

Red Cross volunteers and the Public Assistance unit from Parma rushed to the scene; a rescue helicopter was also sent. Paramedics tried to revive him, but the injuries sustained from the collision with the road proved to be very serious.
The accident was assessed by Carabinieri officers of the Parma unit, together with colleagues from the Sorbolo station, with the support of the local Unione Bassa Est police and firefighters.
The young man, of Albanian origin, had reached the age of majority on August 18.
Affected community, mayor: Good and honest family!
His family, made up of his parents and an older sister, had been part of the Gattatico community for many years. Mayor Daniele Finucci, a family doctor, knows them personally because they have been his patients for many years.
The tragic news saddened yesterday's meeting of the council of the Unione della Val d'Enza, in which Finucci was attending, Italian media reported.
“They are a good and honest family, with sound principles, like Francesco, who also attended school in our town ,” said the mayor of Gattatico. “ I am sad and express my condolences on behalf of the Municipality ,” he added.

He celebrated his 18th birthday in August.
On the Facebook page of the victim's father, Flamur Ajdini, photos and videos appear in a post published in September describing his son's 18th birthday party:
Francesco dances, holding hands with other young people and even including close relatives; then he appears smiling in front of a blue cake, surrounded by blue and white balloons, embraced by his parents and sister.
The painful story: In 2004, little 2-year-old Sara died
The father is a gardener for a company in Collecchio, Ab Global Service srl, which offers various services such as road maintenance, emergency response, earthmoving, demolition, construction work, snow removal and agricultural work.
"Flamuri worked for us for several years as a groundskeeper ," confirms owner Luca Accorsi. " I'm shocked," he says. "Father is a good man and this news deeply saddens us."
Further investigations will now be carried out to assess other aspects and to definitively clarify the circumstances of the incident.
Unfortunately, this is not the first tragedy to strike the Ajdini family: in 2004, again in a catastrophic road accident, two-year-old Sara, Francesco's sister, died.
