A tragic event happened in Italy. Two 15-year-old children, Ajeti Meriton, an Albanian from Kosovo, and Manuel Gabriel Tejada Reyes, from South America, died late Sunday afternoon after being hit by a train.
The tragic event happened near the station of San Pietro, a village of Berbenno in Valtellina. They were together with 8 other friends, all residents of Sondrio.
Afraid that they might miss the train that would take them home, they were running across the tracks when they were hit by a train that was traveling at a speed of 100 km/h.
The friends saw the terrible event, when the 2 friends were left dead on the tracks. They didn't even have cell phones in their hands or headphones in their ears to distract them, but they just didn't see the train.
Carabinieri, various police patrols, firefighters and Sondrio forensic medicine agents have arrived at the scene. The Milan-Tirano line has been discontinued for a long time and a replacement bus service has been set up.
