After the desecration of the national flag a few days ago in Suhareka, another important national symbol has become the object of vandalism in Kosovo. This time, the statue of Gjergj Kastriot Skanderbeg in the city of Prizren, where the hero's helmet and sword are painted gold, has been damaged.

The "Trojet e Arbri" association has reacted harshly to this action, describing it as an "ugly and deliberate attack on the brightest figure in our national history". The president of the association, Nue Oroshi, through a post on the social network Facebook, has called on the security and justice institutions to act immediately to detect and punish the perpetrators of this act.

"This is an unacceptable act, a deliberate provocation that violates not only the figure of Skanderbeg, but also our national pride," declared Oroshi.

Meanwhile, the Regional Police of Prizren has announced that it is verifying the situation on the ground and will act in accordance with the instructions of the Prosecutor's Office. According to them, the area where the statue is located is equipped with security cameras, which are expected to help identify the perpetrators.

The statue of Gjergj Kastrioti Skanderbeg, placed on November 28, 2020 at the "Hasan Prishtina" street roundabout in Prizren, is one of the most important historical and symbolic monuments of the city.
