A 23-year-old Albanian faces life in prison in North Carolina, after being accused of trying to kidnap two minor girls at different times.

23-year-old Andy Bala, according to American media , attempted to kidnap a 7-year-old girl in Sterling Heights and another, aged 15, in Clinton Township.

Bala was arrested by Sterling Heights Police on Tuesday after he allegedly approached a 7-year-old girl in Clinton River Park North, pulled her off her bike and tried to put her in his car, according to the Macomb County District Attorney's Office.

About an hour before the arrest, police received another report that a boy had attempted to kidnap a 15-year-old girl, the Clinton Township Police Department said in a press release. The girl was walking on Clinton River Road.

He allegedly grabbed the girl's head and neck and tried to put her in his car, according to prosecutors. A resident intervened to help the girl escape and then notified the authorities.

Sterling Heights 41-A District Court Magistrate Michael Piatek remanded Bala to the Macomb County Jail.

As for the attempted kidnapping of the 7-year-old, it was her aunt who saved her.

While the girl's grandmother said that this was terrible and she does not understand why he tried to do something like that.

"She is 7 years old and she would never want to experience what happened on Tuesday again. She is scared, as she thinks that at any moment someone will kidnap her like they tried to do on Tuesday. This is a heartbreaking event, but she is a strong little girl. I don't know what he had in mind to do with my niece, but this is terrible. I hope he never sees the light of day again! ", said the girl's grandmother.

Prosecutor Mark Laws asked for a $5 million bond, but Bala's attorney said that would be excessive and unaffordable since he already has a $2 million bond in Clinton Township.

Laws said he doubted Bala could leave the US, as he had traveled to Albania three times in the past six years.
