The Fier Prosecutor's Office says it has documented with evidence suspicions of tax evasion and avoidance of tax obligations by Bankers Petroleum.

Sources claim that part of the file are fictitious invoices issued over the years by the company with inflated costs and that, moreover, in most cases, were not even carried out in the field.

The data available to the Fier prosecution is detailed and, according to the prosecution, the damage caused to the state budget by Bankers in two decades amounts to at least 5.3 billion euros.

The anomalies with Bankers' figures are not that secret.

The annual balance sheets, audit reports, and financial condition reports that the company itself has submitted to the National Business Center show staggering figures of spending over the years to increase oil extraction capacity.

However, in the same reports, oil extraction capacity has not increased. For example, in 2022, Bankers reports in the QKB that the number of active wells was 597 and the average daily production was 9,273 barrels.

For 2022, Bankers says it has spent $23 million just on drilling new wells, while overall it reports a decline in the amount of oil extracted from the wells it operates.

A year later, Bankers reports 580 active wells and average daily production of 8,990 barrels, about 200 barrels less than in 2022.

Bankers says it has spent $24 million in 2023 drilling new wells and reactivating existing wells.

In total, in just two years, Bankers Petroleum says it has invested nearly $50 million in drilling new wells, while production capacity has remained constant.

This scheme, according to the Fier prosecutor's office, is suspected of being the backbone of the company's fraudulent maneuvers over the years, which has caused billions of euros in losses to the state budget.
